Bias in newspapers before television or radio?

I am writing a research paper on media's role in political campaigns before TV or radio even existed, and I need to know if even way back then if there was much bias in newspapers. I tried many google searches but nothing. Sources would be appreciated since I have to write my paper in MLA format. Thank you- Connor
